September is a reflective month, a time of the year that gently closes the summer season and leads us into autumn. The days are getting shorter and we go through them with new dreams, as work and commitments resume.
Let me recommend some great books that I have in mind for September, reads that will keep you company early in the morning, on your lunch break, or after a long day.
1 - Illusions by Richard Bach
This book will nourish your soul with a powerful concept: limits are just an illusion. I think this is a great read for September, a month that quite often brings new challenges in our lives.
2 - Yesteryear by Caro Claire Burke
If you are looking for a great novel, look no further. Yesteryear is Caro Claire Burke’s debut novel, an incredible and modern story that will hook you from the first chapter until the last page.
3 - Timbuktu by Paul Auster
I read this book during a trip to Amsterdam. At the end of it, I felt like a better person. Timbuktu by Paul Auster is a short novel that allows us to see the world through the eyes of a dog with a sick owner.
4 - Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky
For this September, if you are looking for a great classic, Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky is the right option, especially if you have not read it yet — I like to think that everybody has to read this book before dying.
I read this book a few years ago, after surgery that kept me at home for a month. It was an incredible companion. Page by page, I felt like I was in St. Petersburg with Rodion Romanovich and the other characters.
5 - The Housekeeper and the Professor by Yoko Ogawa
I read this book when I was young, and it has stayed with me ever since. The Housekeeper and the Professor by Yoko Ogawa is a gentle, beautifully written novel that draws us into a touching story.
